The Executive Vice President “Drug Discovery & Developoment”, Dr. Klaus Frobel, supports 55pharma on a part-time basis. Among other positions, Dr. Frobel formerly occupied the post of Global Head of Medicinal Chemistry and Head of “Life Science Center Natural Products” at Bayer AG. Having worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years, Dr. Frobel has experience in all relevant fields of pharmaceutical development. In particular, Dr. Frobel is an excellent fit for 55pharma as he has extensive experience in natural product chemistry, drug discovery (including from natural sources) and preclinical development in which he successfully managed a significant number of drug candidate development projects in different therapeutic areas. In addition, Dr. Frobel has deep expertise in IP management in the pharmaceutical industry. Before joining Bayer AG, Dr. Frobel was Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of Göttingen, Germany. Dr. Frobel received his Ph.D. from the University of Göttingen and conducted post-doc research at the University of Cambridge, UK, on biosynthesis of vitamins and at the Harvard University, USA, on natural product synthesis.
